My local police area are appeling for dash camera footage of a road accident, fair enough.... except. It happened a month ago.
Most bought dash cameras have about 32 or 64gb of memory, video uses a lot of memory, you might get anyting from an hour to maybe three or four hours or so depending on the camera. Most people probably drive around 20 minutes each way local, and maybe an hour each way on a longer drive (yes I know it varies) but that means your camera is going to overwrite the video (they loop record) about once a week- ish
So asking a mounth later means most if not all dash footage has been overwritten by now, they needed to appeal the day after the accident. All the video footage is probably long gone by now..
