Some information for those of you flying off on holidays. Bird strikes on commercial aircraft are up on recent years. The good news is mostly these don't cause a crash, the bad news is they often occur on take off which usually results in the aircraft returning to the airport you just left
This means you have a second chance to buy overpriced rubbish at the airport before you leave.

The other day I thought I'd sit in the sun at Margam castle and chill out. Trouble is it isn't the quietest place in the world. It didn't matter where I sat within minutes loud mouthed morons came and sat or stood by me and shouted to each other at the top of their voices to have a chat.
For a change these pics are all shot on my 10-20mm wide angle zoom.

I had a fairly busy weekend, as well as a shoot I had to get some gardening sorted, my grass was getting silly and the triffids out the back were about 9 foot high, so it was trim them back as well.
The weathers been a bit iffy recently but we dodged it on Saturday and Sunday wasn't too bad.
I could do with shooting something different, there is a motorcycle event coming up on the bank holiday, but it's been going downhill the last few times I've been. Last year it was a struggle to get any pictures there were so few riders.

Well the left wing PC obsessed morons at the BBC did it, they decided to have a woman Doctor Who. Actress Jodie Whittaker is taking over from Crapaldi in the Christmas special.
To be honest with the Beeb the way it is I'm supprised it's lasted this long. With viewing figuers plunging what did they do?
They ignored the fans and went for a woman. Remember it was mostly the fans still watching. And lets not forget the Doctor has a wife, a daughter and a granddaughter, so how does that work with a women doctor.
Stuff it, I wont be watching anymore.

Well we popped over the beach for a sunset the other night, what a royal pain in the arse it turned out to be. Shirly lost part of her camera, which luckly I found after much searching. I stepped in bloody dog mess and then trying to get it off my shoe I lost my phone.
No problem Shirley can just ring it and we'll hear it. No she'd left her phone in the house. So while Shriley went home for her phone I searched the sand dunes for mine in the dusk.
I was fortunate that I always carry a torch of some sort and before Shirley got home I found my phone.
On to the pics. heres a few with little done to them.

My son had a leaking rear wheel brake cylinder on the weekend, so he took it to Quickfit. BIG mistake. Quickfit wanted £840, needless to say I'd warned my son before he went there so he walked away.
It seems Quickfit can't just replace the rubbers on a leaking wheel cylinder, they have to replace the cylinder itself, on both sides, then the brake drum because it's contaminated by brake fluid (so bloody wash it off twats) and the pads on both sides.
Now fair enough on the leaking side, and yes it's good practice to change both at the same time but he didn't want them all done. He came in for a simple quick repair.
And of course it didn't stop there, oh no. Shitfix wanted to do both the front brakes as well, new pads ect.
So what they actually did was talk themselves out of doing the original job that actually needed doing.
NEVER TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO QUICKFIX!!! Just check the web if you don't believe me. Better still watch the watchdog video on youtube
He never did get the brakes done, the car was old and tatty anyway, not even worth the £840 they wanted to fix the brakes.
So he just got a new car, job done!

These are just some of the of the pictures taken over the two days of the airshow, I've not had the chance to go through them properly to pick the best shots, nor have I spent any time editing the, really just a quick resize for the blog.
In my opinion many of the aircraft were just a bit too far from the crowd line, yes I know theres safety concerns but having an airshow with the planes a mile or so out to sea just isn't working for me, thankfully a few did fly closer. Next year if I go I'm taking my 600mm lens and a x2 converter.
