Modern cameras let you crop a lot more.

 

 Not too long ago cropping was a bit of risk for photographers (cropping is sort of blowing up the photograph, and just keeping part of it) The problem was the older cameras had limited resolution, crop in too much and it looked terrible.

Fast forward to today, and modern high MP sensors give us the chance to crop in a lot more and still get a decent picture.  Take the image below.  I've cropped in to about 1/8th of the full image (see red square) yet I'm still getting a decent quality and size image.
