Back in my younger days steak diane was a popular meal, along with chicken in the basket and crepe suzette, these were regulars on a menu in most big restaurants, for some reason they fell out of favor and vanished.
Good news, steak diane is back, at one of my local restaurants I spotted it on the menu and quickly ordered it.... I wasn't dissapointed! I cleared the plate.
For those who don't know, steak diane is a steak with a sauce and mushrooms, the sauce usually consists of the steak and mushroom juices, with cream, dijon mustard, shallots, butter, garlic, parsley and often a dash of worcestershire sauce added. Mostly served with fried potatoes.
Mine was first class and brought back all those old memories.
