I watched a program this morning where an experienced hunter had a close encounter with a bigfoot... All well and good until he tells the story!
This experienced hunter was out hunting with his son, now it's a pitch black night and they are in a thick woods (where it's darker anyway) they have a thermal imaging camera to look for their game. The hunter actually says he couldn't see his hand in front of his face it was that dark.
A few minutes into the woods the thermal camera starts acting up and cutting out. Now this is the point you or I would say fuck this! Time to go back.... Not our experienced hunter. Oh no! Despite not having any spare batteries they press on (it gets better trust me) they also only have one gun between them.
Now the son has the gun, so they are armed and dangerous... actually quite dangerous as the father has the thermal camera so the son is blind but the only one able to shoot to protect themselves. This makes for an interesting situation if they encounter anything, which they do.
At one point with a failing thermal camera and a blind man riding shotgun as a guard the father "see's" a bigfoot quite close. What to do? do you give son the thermal so he can take a shot? Not as easy as it sounds as you cant sight through a hand held thermal very easily (this isn't a weapon mounted sighted in device remember) do you give father the gun with the same problems? Do you risk letting son shoot blind (remember he cant even see his own father standing next to him so a bit dodgy even if he can guess where dad is) The simple answer is you light up the target with a torch and bang bang bang!
Well that would be the simple answer.... thats if our experienced hunter had remembered a torch, he had to use the light on his phone to find the trail out.
So what have we learned? An experienced hunter out at night with no gun, a dodgy thermal camera with no spare batteries and no bloody torch, aided by his armed but unabled to see son go hunting. You couldn't make it up. I cant help wondering if this is an experienced hunter WTF are inexperienced ones like. Now thats a scary thought!
