Selling your car? Think again.
A Swansea man has been banned from driving after his car which was up for sale was taken for a test drive by an uninsured man. The car was involved in an accident (no fault of the man selling the car) and the driver who was thinking of buying the vehicle died in the crash.
This puts people in a difficult position. Nobody will buy a car without a test drive, but most people are not insured to drive another vehicle, and the majority of car insurances only apply to named drivers.
So what are people supposed to do? Are we going to demand to see the buyers insurance documents, which in any case could be fake, and we have no way of checking. Or is the insurance data base going to be opened to the public?
