Waterfalls and fungi

Found a new waterfall a few days back, now I have to say it's far from easy to reach, but worth the walk, and the fall I took on very slippery rocks.

Riddick (film review)

IMDb.  Left for dead on a sun-scorched planet, Riddick finds himself up against an alien race of predators. Activating an emergency beacon alerts two ships: one carrying a new breed of mercenary, the other captained by a man from Riddick's past.

Vin Diesel at his growling best, having to fight alien monsters and bounty hunters sent to kill him, will he survive or die in the attempt?

The film is all action, more or less from the start, with stunning graphics (as we expect these days) the film has just enough humour to keep things light (pun intended)

There were times I felt I was watching a video game rather than a film, especially during the fights, but it didn't stop my enjoyment of the film.

Waynes rating 7/10   worth a watch.

Finders keepers the root of all evil (film review)

My God what a dire film, badly acted, badly filmed and a rubbish story, it really looked like a home made video bu a bunch of students.
Waynes rating 1/10 only worth watching to count how many time the F words used. (bloody lots)

Energy saving madness!

I've got energy saving light bulbs That last half the time of normal light bulbs, cost 20 times as much and use 5000 time more energy to produce.
My computer goes to 'sleep' and turns the screen off to save energy even when I'm using the bloody thing,
My local tip won't take rubbish unless it's sorted out, so a bin bag full now takes about 2 hours to empty and uses 10 skips to seperate rubbish that 70% is dumped in the same landfill site anyway (really mental)
My washing machine doesn't take in any water (well hardly any) to save electric, but then doesn't wash the clothes properly as theres not enough water in the drum, so I have to add it myself, so saves bugger all and wastes my time as well.
The best part is all this crap is caused by.... Yes you guesed it the non-existent global warming.  Despite all out best efforts at destroying the planet the temperature hasn't gone up in 15 years (and theres question marks about it before as the data was fiddled so much) so all the increased costs, the stupid pointless wind farms etc are all a total waste of money.

The last stand (film review)

The plot is simple, a vicious escaped drug lord in a stolen super-car heads towards a small country town, only the sheriff and his small band of helpers stand in his way.  Sadly for the drug lord the sheriff is good old Arnold Schwarzenegger, so right from the start you know it's not going to end well for him.

The film is a good mix of action and humour, with the pace fast flowing right from the beginning, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Wayne rating   8/10  worth seening, especially if your an arnie fan.

R.I.P.D. (film review)

The story is fairly simple, police officers killed on duty return to earth to capture baddies, after being recruited to the 'rest in peace department'.

The special effects are pretty much what we'd expect these days, and there's a good mix of action and story with a bit of humour thrown in for good measure.

The film reminded me of the better men in black, it's a similar sort of film IMHO.  Sadly I didn't really engage with the hero, for me Kevin Bacon stole the show.

Waynes rating 6/10   It's ok.

Comic con Cardiff 2013 pictures (part 4)

Well heres the last part of the comic con pics..

What a crazy country I live in.

Well I have to say it, the UK's gone bloody mad.   Recently an elderly  woman was trampled by cows and badly injured, a passing hiker drove off the cows and dragged the lady to safety (well done mate) then phoned for an ambulance.... that's when it went tit's up, the first response paramedic arrived... and refused to climb over the gate to help the injured woman, instead she waited 10 minutes for the fire service to arrive and cut the gate open before going in.   It seems health and safety raised it's ugly head.   Well what can you say , the clues in the title first response..., bloody waste of space more like it, even St Johns ambulance would have gone to help the woman, the ambulance service should be ashamed of itself..

Then theres the other elderly disabled woman who's wheelchair rolled onto the railway lines in a station, thank god the ambulance service didn't have to rescue her (she'd still be there now I expect) but a member of staff and a few passengers did.... then the member of staff was suspended for breaching health and safety.  Barmy, the blokes a bloody hero and the fucking morons who run the railway suspend him.  Pity it wasn't the idiot who decided to suspend him, leave that silly bastard on line if you ask me.

Trouble is next time you or I fall on the line, or trip over a kerb somewhere  no bugger will come to help us, the ambulace people will be afraid to get out of the ambulance and cross the road without a passing boy scout to help them, and the people working nearbye will be afraid to help for fear of getting the sack.  What we need to do is start sacking the clowns who make up this health and safety crap (most of it's not real health and safety anyway) and start giveing medals to people who try to help others, like we used to years ago when the country was a much better place.
